This is the essay thing. In the first part of " how the Garcia girls lost their accents" it talks briefly about the stories that explain how the girls got to where they are now. There is four girls named Yolanda , Carla , Sofia and Sandra. In the first of three parts its just basically telling how the girls are and how they are living.
In the very first chapter Yolanda was the person introduced. Yolanda goes back to her home town the Dominican Republic where she visits her family. When Yolanda gets there her family quickly points out how Americanized she is. She does not like that.
In the second short story i read about one of the other sitters which is Sofia. Well to me i think that Sofia is that girl that really stands out from others. it like she sticks out like a sore thumb. so it goes on to talk about this German guy named Otto. She writes him letters and in those letters they would talk about their "sexual feeling". One day Sofia father finds the letters she writes to Otto and he is very mad. He is so mad that he kicks her out the house. so Sofia goes to Europe to find Otto.
So far the book is OK not great but just good. I would think that me being confused has something to do with that. The most confusing parts to me is how the book is organized. Its like in this backward chronolocial order. that makes it hard to understand for me. I hope as i read on it gets more clear to me. I think i just might re read the book so that way i can understand it better and get a better grasp on the story.
